Frequently asked questions of Discover Tasmania Tours. 

During tour enquiries and bookings, a number of common questions are raised and the answers to some are found here. This area is updated regularly.

What's a private charter?

  • This service applies to hiring the driver/guide and our modern comfortable vehicle that can accommodate between one and four (1-4) passengers.  The cost is the same for 1 or 4 guests.

  • Larger groups are also catered for upon request.

 

I provide a pick up and drop off service around Launceston CBD accommodation or the Launceston Visitor Centre.

Why's there a "per person" price?

  • Where guests are not travelling the state together and are happy to share a tour, a per person price applies.

  • On some tours, I arrange to meet and greet guests near the attraction and they need to make their own arrangements to arrive on site and on time before the tour commences.  On these tours I can take up to ten (10) guests on tour.  Eg Trevallyn Power Station tour.

  • Comfortable modern 4WD or other vehicle as required to suit group numbers.

 
What's NOT included on the tour?

  • ​Entry fees to attractions;

  • Meals;

  • Wine tasting fees (if applicable);

  • Airport transfers;

  • Accommodation.

What do I get on a Custom tour?

  • This option allows you to select your own itinerary and pick and choose where you go, what you see and how long you stay there.  It is the most flexible tour option on offer and can last up to a full day.

  • Prices are based on kilometres travelled and total time taken from pick up to drop off at your local accommodation in the Launceston CBD area.

Can I book online?

  • Yes, you can see if a particular day is available, just click on the relevant tour and select a day to suit and pay online for the number of passengers required.

  • You will be sent a booking reference to your email address and Discover Tasmania Tours will receive a booking notification;

  • Alternatively to booking online, call me direct  and save on the booking engine fee or send an email to me.

Where are the website photographs and videos from?

  • Most of them are my own work and some belong to Jane Oakley-Lohm, owner of Launceston Wildlife Retreat.

  • Others are from the Tourism Tasmania archive site "Tourism Tasmania Visual Library" and the Discover Tasmania site under licence arrangements.
