Take a Half-Day Skiing Trip in Tasmania’s Ben Lomond

Tasmania’s premier Alpine skiing operations are located at Ben Lomond, 60 km from Launceston. Located in the Ben Lomond National Park at a top elevation of 1,575 m, this is an amazing place to ski.

The ski season usually begins in mid-July, and during this time, the runs are served by up to seven lifts. Ski season normally runs between July and September.

Enjoy the crisp alpine air, touch your first snow, build a snowman, try skiing or snowboarding, or enjoy a variety of other fun winter activities on offer. No skiing experience is required.

  • Pick-up from Launceston CBD at 08:30
  • Return to Launceston around 13:30

First time in the snow?

Heading to the snow for the first time is easier than you think. On Ben Lomond, you can hire ski and snowboard equipment, toboggans, waterproof après boots, and waterproof jackets and pants. You will need to bring a beanie, goggles or sunglasses, warm socks, and gloves. Sunscreen is also a must.

Do I need a lesson?

Yes, if you have never been skiing or snowboarding before, you should take a lesson. Your experience and time on the slopes will be more enjoyable learning from an experienced Snowsports Instructor. If you have tired skiing or snowboarding once before, it is advisable to have a lesson to improve and develop your skills. Lessons operate at 10:00 or 12:00.
